Career Milestone for McClure on One of Nation’s Most Remembered Days

  • Although the 30-year-old driver has been part of the Nationwide Series since 2003, this season marks only his third full-time year in the series.
  • In 99 career starts, McClure has an average start of 35.4 and an average finish of 30.4. Although McClure has strived for success, his statistics have greatly improved with each season he has competed in the series.
  • The Abingdon, Virginia native has competed in four events at the ¾-mile racing surface; he has a best start of 18th (May 2009) and finish of 32nd (May 2008). He has completed only 61% of the total laps at RIR as a result of two DNFs (mechanical failure and accident).
  • The RHR team will use chassis # 25 this weekend at RIR. It is a new car to McClure, but it was used this season at ORP with driver Bobby Hamilton, Jr.

Eric McClure, driver of the No. 24 Hefty® Odor Block™ Ford quotes:

(On his thoughts about making it to 100 starts in the Nationwide Series)

“I’m very blessed to have had the opportunity to stick around long enough to make it to 100 starts. The Nationwide Series is a great series and I love being a part of it. Certainly the involvement of our partner, Hefty® brand, over the last few years has made it possible for me to continue to have fun with this and compete, and I’m grateful to them, and everyone at RHR that allows me to continue to chase this dream.”

(On racing on one of the nation’s most remembered days)

“I think I, along with millions of people, remember exactly what I was doing on that day. I remain impressed with our nation’s strength, resolve and unity that was shown after that day. As many people mark the anniversary of that, and show their patriotism and remembrance, I’m thrilled to have the chance to compete on September 11 in what I consider THE American sport at the venue closest to our nation’s capital.”
