Hamilton Finishes Eighth in Miami, Sixth in Points

Bobby Hamilton, Jr. concluded his 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season with a strong eighth place finish at Miami-Homestead Speedway.  With his strong run, Hamilton earned the sixth position in the season long point’s race.  Hamilton was the second highest finishing Busch Series driver in the point’s race dominated by Cup drivers dipping down into the series.

Hamilton performed well all race, quickly moving through the field during the 200 lap race.  Crew Chief Chris Wright called a fantastic race and Hamilton responded by climbing up on the steering wheel and driving the McDonald’s Ford to the front.

A frantic dash to the finish gave Hamilton the eighth place finish and a nice wrap to the 2007 season.  Hamilton and Team Rensi Motorsports will now turn their attention to preparing for a championship run in the newly named Nationwide Series in 2008.

"This is the same car we took to Texas and Ford allowed us to go to the seven-post shaker test,” Hamilton said.  “We picked up because Ford is helping us so much.  We got some help from those guys and you can see it.  We had momentum going into the race and we'll take this into next year.   All the guys are high-fiving but this is like a win for us.  And this is what we need to get going to the tests and heading into Daytona.  The folks at Ford have been helping us a lot and I really can't thank them enough for everything they did.  I appreciate their help.  A top-10 finish in the points is incredible compared to how competitive these Cup guys are and it shows how good my team is.  Our main goal now is to set plans for 2008 and win some races."

Jeff Burton won the race and Carl Edwards captured the Busch Series championship.
